Ned Burns presenting the ball to senior team player Matthew Burns and his daughter Hollie.

Bright travelled to near neighbours Aughlisnafin on Friday night for what turned out to be a feisty encounter. Corey Ranaghan excelled in half-back with his composure on the ball and often posed a threat going forward. He opened the scoring with a fine point and linked well with Cormac McLaughlin for his score.

Decky Quinn had a great game and was unlucky not to score a goal early in the half. The Fin answered back with two points before Bright took hold of the game with Brendan McMenamin and Gareth George getting more involved. Both taking scores as Bright upped the tempo.
Noel Travers and Rian Tempany continued to cause the Fin problems with tricky runs through the heart of their team. Seamas Tumelty, Matthew Burns, Marc Burke, Marty Murphy and Joe Farrand worked tirelessly in defense as the Fin finished the half strongly with four unanswered points.
Chris Tumelty made a nuisance of himself and almost scored a goal after taking the ball well from Gareth George. BJ and McLaughlin scored a point apiece before the end of the half to keep Bright in front. Half-time 0-8 to 0-7 for Bright.
In the second half discipline was lacking on both sides as things got a bit more aggressive. George got the first score of the half and then Bright seemed to switch off. Aughlisnafin got a soft goal early and scored a free kick straight after. Cool heads were called for and Cailean Toner and George provided such.
Along with Burnsie, McLaughlin, McMenamin and Tempany Bright started to control the game. A goal by George and further points from McMenamin, Burns, Travers and Ranaghan pulled Bright clear. It was a hard fought win with plenty of stand out performances.
Scorers: Ranaghan 0-2, McLaughlin 0-2, McMenamin 0-7, George 1-4, Burns 0-2, Travers 0-1.
A big thank you to Ned Burns for sponsoring a match ball for the senior team’s game away to Aughlisnafin last night.
The Bright U-8’s.

A big well done to the boys and girls from our under 8 team who played Aughlisnafin  at half time of the senior game.
This was the first time a lot of the youngsters wore the green and gold of bright and everyone was fantastic!

Many thanks to Chris Tumelty and Michael Farrand who have been helping the kids develop their skills and it was good to see a large support out to cheer on the boys and girls!
Bingo continues on Sunday night at 8pm in Bright Community Centre.
