This week has seen a busy schedule for the Ladies team with two challenge matches.xa0 First was against a fellow Junior team, Loughinisland on Monday night where the girls came out strong winners in what was a fantastic team performance.xa0 On Sunday night they faced Senior team Kilcoo and despite another great team performance they were narrowly beaten by only 4 points.xa0 However, the management are extremely happy with the result as a number of players were missing and even with that the girls gave kilcoo a very competitive game.xa0 With these results the season ahead should be very rewarding indeed.xa0 Training continues on Monday and Wednesday night at 6.45pm at the pitch.
The senior men had their first league match at home to Ardglass on Friday.xa0 Despite a valiant effort the boys were narrowly beaten.xa0 Hopefully with the cobwebs now blown off they will find their form and get the results they deserve next time.xa0 Training continues Wednesday nights at the pitch.
The Under-16’s got their league campaign of to a winning start when they defeated Ballymartin on Thursday night. The boys Minor team also won their first game at home against Castlewellan on Tuesday night.xa0xa0Training for all juvenille teams takes place on Wednesday at 6pm.
There has been a play arranged to run in the Great Hall at Downshire Hospital on 27-28th April at 8pm, part proceeds will go towards the club. The play is written by Viv Brennan and is called “No Hope Here” xa0- it’s a Hilarious Ulster Comedy. Come along and have a good old laugh. Ticket prices are £10 and £8 for U-16’s/Over 60s.xa0 Contact any committee member to book.
There are two upcoming events in the club. On Friday 10 May our annual Bright Day at the Races will be held at Downpatrick Racecourse. This is always a great days craic and if the luck is in maybe a profitable one too.xa0 Details of tickets to follow.xa0 Also on Saturday 13 July sees the return of the Hypnotist in the hall.xa0 All those that attended this fabulous nights entertainment last year will know this is not to be missed! ticket prices and release dates will follow soon.
