Bright GAC Club Notes for 14th April

The club would like to extend its condolences to the Holland family on the death of Geraldine Holland.  May she rest in peace.

This week has seen the start of the Ladies league with a home game against St Michael’s. The ladies came out strong winners in what was a very one sided match writes Ciara Sharvin.  The Weather was freezing but the play was hot.  It was a fantastic all round effort by the girls.  Special mention for goalkeeper Therese McCartan who made a fantastic penalty save amongst many others.  Training has now been changed to Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6.45pm at the pitch.  The Ladies would like to wish players Roisin Torney and Leah Milligan the best of luck in their Strictly Come Dancing.  The girls are rooting for you both.

The senior men continued their league campaign on Friday night with a game away to Aghaderg, unfortunately without a full strength squad they were beaten.  This week sees them take on Aughlisnafin at home on Friday night. Lets get a big crowd out to support  the lads.  Training continues Wednesday nights.
This weeks fixtures for Juvenille teams are as follows; U-12’s are away to Darragh Cross on Sunday at 11am, U14s are home against Carryduff on Monday at 7pm, U-16’s are away to Dromara on Thursday at 7pm and Minors are home against An Riocht on Tuesday at 7pm.
There will be a fund raising night in SOS Bar, Killough on Friday night after the mens home game.  This will see a few brave men from the club getting waxed by some very eager ladies.  This will no doubt sort the men from the boys aswell as being a fantastic nights craic.  Please come along and give this all your support.
There has been a play arranged to run in the Great Hall at Downshire Hospital on 27-28 April at 8pm – part proceeds will go towards the club. The play is written by Viv Brennan and is called “No hope here” its a Hilarious Ulster Comedy. Come along and have a good old laugh. Ticket prices are £10 and £8 for u16s/Over 60s.  Contact any committee member to book.
There are two upcoming events in the club.  On Friday 10 May our annual Bright Day at the Races will be held at Downpatrick Racecourse, this is always a great days craic and if the lucks in maybe a profitable one too.  Details of tickets to follow.  Also on Saturday 13th July sees the return of the Hypnotist in the hall.  All those that attended this fabulous nights entertainment last year will know this is not to be missed! ticket prices and release dates will follow soon.
Some places have become available for the 200 Club, if interested please contact Marty Tumelty or any committee member.  Remember, if you’re not in you can’t win.
