Bradley Moves Into Health Spokesperson Role At Assembly

New role for SDLP MLA Sinead Bradley at the NI Assembly.

Following a reshuffle of the SDLP’s Assembly and council team, Sinead Bradley MLA been appointed as the Health spokesperson, and to serve on Health committee at Stormont.

Welcoming her new role, the South Down MLA said: “I am excited to take on this new role and thank our party leader for his confidence in me. There are big challenges ahead in this brief but I am up for the hard work and will seek to play a constructive role on the Health committee. I look forward to following on from the excellent work of my predecessor, Mark H Durkan MLA.

“It is clear that after three years of no government and no decision making, our health service is in crisis. We committed to the public that we would seek to take the politics out of health and committed to working with the Health Minister positively and supporting difficult decisions when they are in the public good. Now the Executive is restored at Stormont, I look forward to fulfilling that promise on behalf of the SDLP.

“Timely access to high quality health services is a priority for people right across the North. In my new portfolio, I look forward to engaging with health service staff, stakeholders and crucially, patients to seek to ensure their voices are heard as part of the transformation journey. I know that issues relating to health and social care, whether it is access to local services or mental health provision, are crucially important to the people of South Down and I will engage with people right across my constitutency.

“I am excited that I will be working with Cllr Adam Gannon as Rural Healthcare spokesperson and Cllr Cara Hunter as Mental Health spokesperson to seek to play a positive and constructive role in the ongoing transformation journey,” said Sinead Bradley.
