Boyle Lobbies Transport NI For New Footpath In Portaferry

Ards and North Down Borough Councillor Joe Boyle has written to Transport NI with reference to the provision of a footpath at the commencement of Ballyfounder Road leading to St. Patrick’s GAC premises.

He said: “Whilst this is the local GAA facility within the community of Portaferry, it is also a facility that lends itself to many local groups, organisations, and teams as well as visiting teams, clubs of varying codes and interests as well as those attending the wide and varied functions that the facilities cater for within the community.

“The fact that these facilities are so widely used by literally thousands of people from within and visiting the community, adds to a strong case that the provision of a footpath is critical to assist with the safety and wellbeing of those both attending and departing from this facility.

“I have therefore requested a meeting with Transport NI to meet along with those directly associated with this facility along with representation from community organisation representatives of many organisations within the community with the view to progressing this situation.”
