Bishopscourt Diff And Drift Event Attracts Over 100 Cars

Diff and Drift event at Bishopscourt draws a crowd to watch the 100+ cars burning the rubber

Drivers from around Ireland North and South arrived at Bishopscourt today to take part in a non-competitive diff and drift event on a clear early summers day writes Jim Masson.

There was plenty of adrenalin-pumping screeching of tyres, blopwing of exhausts and revving of engines as the morning wore on and the cars kept coming.

The season starts around pAril each year and this year in August the Irish Drift Championshjip will take place with hundreds of entrants expected battling for the bragging rights and the top prizes.

Drift racing got off the ground early in 2023 an dit has mushroomed in popularity especially amontg younger drivers who chose to do their donuts on a track rather than on the public highway.

Today drivers could enter into the Diff arena for £30 and spin around and also run on the main track for £100. Mostly these events are not competitive.

They are just about thy drivers pushing their cars to the limits after spending time and money getting them ready for the event. Entry is £10, and children are free.

It’s really about showing off their car handling skills as they fill the air with exhaust fumes and the smell of burning rubber.

And it’s about showing off how much nerve they have too. They do have safety precauitions and wear helmets. And there is a fire engine and an ambulance on stand-by as they enjoy their thrills and spills.
