Baseball Bat Attack On Saul Road Leaves Man Injured

The man, who was identified today as Seamus Murphy, the caterer at Downpatrick Golf Club, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for head injuries that are not believed to be life threatening. The two men involved in the attack are described as large build, wearing balaclavas, gloves and wearing combat style jackets. The men were wearing dark bottoms and white training shoes. She said, “This must have been extremely traumatic for the victim and I wish him a full and fast recovery from this ordeal.xa0This attack is out of keeping with the Downpatrick area and has shocked and disgusted local people. “As a community we must ensure that the perpetrators of this vicious incident are brought to justice and that attacks like this are not repeated. “The Saul Road area of Downpatrick has a tight knit community and I have no doubt that the great community spirit which exists in this area will ensure that all information about this act of brutality is passed onto the police.” Also, condemningxa0the attack, Down District Councillor xa0Colin McGrath said, ‘This type of incident isxa0totallyxa0unwelcome in our town. “To have people dealing with matters in this way is unacceptable.xa0Thisxa0particularxa0incident appears all the more sinister and chillingxa0becausexa0of thexa0premeditated nature of it -xa0with balaclavas, gloves and the exceptionally covert method of the attack.xa0I would appeal to anyone withxa0informationxa0toxa0contactxa0thexa0PSNIxa0immediately.” Attack Update Following the attack on the Saul Road by two men with baseball bats, Downpatrick Golf Club caterer Seamus Murphy was left with a serious head wound to the back of his head which could have had a very serious outcome.
