Ballynahinch United 6 v Dromore Amateurs 3

On Saturday last United entertained Dromore Amateurs in a pre-season friendly at Millbridge which was watched by a sizeable crowd all suitably social distanced writes Gilbert Cromie.

On a very sunny and warm day the Blues attack was in red hot form as the Red Arrows flew overhead to arrow them to victory.

United were on the front foot from the first whistle and they were rewarded when â€ªDecky McComiskey with a simple finish putting the home side ahead after Stuart McMullan’s cross found its way through a crowded penalty area.

Both players combined again for McComiskey to claim his second soon after.

The third came when Karol Jarosiński’s corner looped over the goalkeeper into the net. The same player got his second when he found himself in behind the Dromore defence to coolly slot home at the near post.

Forbes Heads Home A Corker In Second Half

In the second half Dromore pulled a goal back before Jack Forbes got in on the act when he bravely headed home a long sweeping ball from David Kelly which wasn’t claimed by the goalkeeper to make it 5 – 1.

Dromore reduced the arrears with goals on either side of Jack Forbes second goal which came when he outpaced their defence to make it six.

This was a great workout for United who would like to thank Dromore Amateurs for contributing to such a good game and wish them the best for the rest of the season.

Prior to the kick-off, a minutes silence was observed to mark the recent passing of former United stalwart Rob Stevenson.

And sadly before the weekend passed it was announced that another former player Willie Woodside had also died.

The officers, players and supporters of Ballynahinch United would wish to convey their sympathy to the families at this very sad time.
