Managers Keith Hamilton [United] and Johnny McGreevy [Swifts] congratulated the prize winners and thanked the management support team for their support and efforts over the season. United’s outstanding last half of the season which saw them finish in 5th place and suffer defeat in just one of their last eighteen league games provided Keith Hamilton with a rallying cry for next season. He remarked on the excellent attendances at training which had been a key component for their recent excellent run and he urged them to continue in the same vain in the 2016/17 season.

In his closing remarks the Chairman thanked his committee for a sterling year’s work which had significantly improved the club both on and off the pitch. He highlighted the increase in club sponsors and thanked all the businesses who had come on board both new and long standing to support the club which does so much to maintain the club’s facilities and provide recreation for the players of the club. The supporters who faithfully attend week in week out in all weathers were the subject of deserved praise including those who do so much work in the background undertaking essential activities such as pitch marking, club house cleaning, grounds maintenance and match day hospitality to name but a few.

United’s last match was against Sirocco Works on Tuesday 10th May and it ended scoreless. Both teams had undertaken a gruelling sequence of six matches in ten days so it was no surprise that the sparkle that had been so evident by the results that both teams had achieved was missing.
