Bailie Calls For Loughinisland Road Improvements

SOUTH Down Sinn Féin Assembly Candidate Naomi Bailie has called on Roads Service to carry out work essential maintenance work in Loughinisland.

Miss Bailie said, “In recent weeks I have been contacted by a number of local residents who have concerns about the condition of the pedestrian pavement at Loughview Cottages in Loughinisland.

“The area in question leads to the entrance of the estate and includes a set of steps that residents use to access their homes.

“On a recent walk with a local resident, we observed that there are holes in the pavement and the general state of the surface is uneven and in urgent need of repair. I believe the area poses a serious health and safety risk, particularly given the number of elderly people and young children who use the pavement on a regular basis.

“I have contacted Roads Service on this matter who I hope will rectify the problem in order to reduce the risk of serious injury to residents,” added Ms Bailie.
