Asda Downpatrick colleagues have raised over £3,900 for the Asda Tickled Pink campaign so far.

The initiative helps fund world class research, life changing support and vital breast awareness information to help change the future of breast cancer in the UK.

Asda Downpatrick Community Champion, Linda Owens hosted a fundraising day in store and colleagues dressed up in pink to raise awareness and funds towards this year’s total.

As part of a campaign to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Asda Tickled Pink is on a mission to show NI customers how checking their boobs, pecs and chests can be as normal as their Asda shop.

Now in its 26th year, the Asda Tickled Pink campaign aims to raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer charities – Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!

This year, the focus is to disrupt customers doing their shopping with important reminders that all men and women should become Real Self-Checkers!

This includes pink till receipts, point of sale with real case studies, signs and symptoms leaflets, and a large car park banner.

Linda Owen, Downpatrick Asda colleague, says the most important checkout is a real self checkout.

The annual campaign is the longest running UK charity partnership and over the past 26 years has raised over £77million to date.

Linda Owens, Community Champion at Asda Downpatrick, said:

“We had a fantastic day raising awareness and vital funds for Asda Tickled Pink!

“We spent the day chatting to our wonderful customers, and many opened up to us about their own experiences.

“Our customers are always so generous and willing to support a worthy cause.

“We had a great laugh, but more importantly, we raised awareness about the importance of checking your boobs. If we could help even one person remember to check their boobs then we were happy.”
