Kellie Armstrong MLA thanks community for amazing shoebox appeal result
Strangford Alliance MLA Kellie Armstrong has said a big thank you to the individuals and groups who donated filled shoeboxes for the Team Hope Christmas Appeal.
She said: “I’d like to give a a special thanks to the children and parents of Kircubbin Community Nursery and Sullivan Prep who provided so many shoeboxes this Christmas.
“Its wonderful that local children take the time to fill a shoebox and gift it to children of the same age who live so far away and in very different and difficult circumstances.
“Team Hope were able to provide essentials like toiletries, clothes, school supplies, sweets and small toys for children in Eastern Europe and Africa.
“Items have been sent to Kosovo where many Ukrainian children are being supported by families who have had their own expereince of being displaced by conflict.
“171,651 children received a shoebox. The annual campaign shares joy and excitement with children who live in circumstances where these can often be in short supply”, added Kellie Armstrong.
