Ards Hospital Staff Raise Funds In Night Walk

Ards Community Hospital raises funds in a sponsored night walk

A team of nursing staff and physiotherapists from Ards Community Hospital have raised an incredible £1737 for Cancer Research by taking part in the ‘Shine Night Walk’.

Shine Night Walk’ is an illuminating night-time walk around Belfast City Centre.xa0

Those taking part have the chance to stride together through the lights of the City and by helping through fundraising, get closer to beating cancer.

The Enhanced Care at Home Team were motivated to take part in the event and they covered 10k across Belfast City Centre to raise funds for the charity close to their hearts.xa0

Some of the staff of the Ards Community Hospital who took part in the Shine Night Walk.

Each member of the team has been affected by cancer either personally or professionally.xa0 They also wanted to undertake the walk to support their health and wellbeing.

Enhanced Care at Home Sister, Debbie Flynn who took part alongside her colleagues said: “The walk was a great opportunity for the team to work together.

“They raise money for a very worthy cause that has affected our team personally and professionally.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere and all involved from event organisers to guides along the route were encouraging and motivating to help keep spirits up.

“Everyone the Shine Night Walk thoroughly.”

The Enhanced Care at Home Team is a multi-disciplinary team.

They are comprised of Nurses, Specialist Nurses, Nursing Assistants and Physiotherapists all working in the community to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions. xa0
