Ards Father And Son Off Hook For Waste Offencesxa0

John Harold Milliken (78) and his son John Martin Milliken (49), of Tullynagardy Road, Newtownards, were today each given an 18 months’ conditional discharge at Downpatrick Crown Court, having pleaded guilty to breaches of waste management legislation.

Between April and July 2016, officers from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) identified that the defendants had unlawfully deposited and were keeping (predominantly) construction and demolition works waste on their premises.

The site did not have a licence and neither individual was authorised by the NIEA to store, keep or treat controlled waste.
