Ardglass Man Arrested For Alleged Hate Crime

dn_screenPolice in Downpatrick have arrested a man following an incident of criminal damage in the Ardglass area on Saturday 27 September, which police are treating as a hate crime.

Constable Ryan Kendrick from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “At approximately 2.45am, damage was caused to the front door and side gate of a property in the Quay Street area.

“Police attended the scene and are now treating this as a racially motivated hate crime.xa0A 26-year-old manwas arrested and was later released on bail pending further enquiries.

“We are continuing to investigate this incident and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed any suspicious activity, or anyone with any other information to contact Downpatrick police station on the non-emergency number 101.

“Alternatively, information about crime can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
