Ardglass GAC Notes For 21 August 2016

FUELLING OUR FUTURE SUCCESS: Prior to last Sunday’s Junior Football Championship game, the Seniors wore their new training tops, sponsored by Strangford Fuels. Comgall Milligan kindly presented the tops to the senior squad on behalf of his son Gavin Milligan. The senior team and management would like to say a massive thank you to Strangford Fuels for their ongoing support and we would ask all our members and supporters of Ardglass GAC to support our sponsors also.

The SENIORS put in a superb performance on Friday evening overcoming table toppers Dundrum on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-12. Ardglass surged into a 6 point lead in the first half aided by a stiff breeze, in the second half they put in a resolute defensive performance to stave off Dundrum’s wind assisted comeback.
No league game this week – final league game away to St Paul’s Friday 2nd September @ 7pm.

The U-12’s played two games this week, overcoming Ballykinlar last Wednesday at Ardtole while also drawing 2-8 a piece with Kilclief on Sunday morning again at home. Over both games there were some notable performances, in defence Andrew Addis, Dara O’Shea and Ryan Devlin all showed a range of defensive skills – tackling, blocking and intercepting while also providing great distribution to the forward line.

Ryan Cusack enjoyed a good game at midfield in both games and is improving week on week. In the forward line Philip Hay and Aaron Byrne both got on the score sheet with well finished goals against Ballykinlar and were ably assisted by U10 players Ethan Brown and Pabhraig O’Shea.

The U-14’s lost away to St John’s in the championship group stages with 6 of the 17 man squad unavailable. Ardglass travelled with the minimum 11 players and although the game could have went either way it was settled mid-way through the second half as St John’s hit 3 quickfire goals and Ardglass were unable to close the gap. Unlucky lads!

THIS WEEK: Senior squad training continues tonight out at Ardtole, starting at the usual time of 7pm. Tomorrow evening the Go Games coaching continues for all U8, U10 & U-12 sides, again out at Ardtole and starting at 6.30pm. Then on Saturday the U-10’s travel to St Johns for a Go Games blitz @ 10.30am and on Sunday morning the U12s are also away to Bryansford for their next game @ 11am.
