Ardglass FC In Form Against Drumaness Mills Reserves

Ardglass get off to a slow start in getting the Drumaness Mills Reserves under their wing

The Newcastle and District Amateur Football League,

Premier League match,

Venue: Meadowvale, Drumaness, on 12 4 2025,

Final Score: Drumaness Mills Reserves  1   6 Ardglass FC.

Premier League leaders Ardglass travelled to Meadowvale and were slow to get into the game in the early stages. A very young spirited Drumaness team started brightly and went ahead on 7 minutes through a great left foot drive from Ethan McQuoid following a right wing cross writes Cyril McKinney.

Gradually Ardglass got into the game and their star player Jamie McDarby turned things around with his trusty left foot firstly on 20 minutes – cutting in hesitation in the home defence and drilled the ball home past a helpless Steven Keenan to put Ardglass in front.

Just before half-time McDarby won a penalty but Drumaness keeper Steven Keenan brilliantly saved the spot kick diving at full strength to his left at the expense of a corner on 42 minutes.

Within a minute of the second half starting, Ardglass went further in front through a Shea Dorrian spot kick after Karl O’Neill was upended in the box.

Will Moore, Drumaness Reserves, moves in as Ardglass forward Aidy Watson tries to make a break.

ohn Beattie then got in on the scoring on 58 minutes to make it 4-1 to the visitors with a great strike.

Drumaness kept battling away without really threatening the Ardglass goal and were undone twice in the space of 4 minutes when substitute Ryan Cusack fired home in style on 78 and 82 minutes to leave the final score 6-1 to the visitors.

Ardglass will feel they can play better whilst Drumaness young squad will learn from this experience. But Ardglass were probably resting a couple of key players as they will be playing in the Harry Clarke Cup Final on the same pitch at Meadowvale on Easter Monday, 21st April at 1.30pm.

Aidy Watson makes a cross for Ardglass as Drumaness Mills Reserves midfielder Christopher McAleenan closes in.
