“Since May 2011 it has been my great privilege and honour to be an elected Councillor and therefore I believe that my current priorities deeply lie with serving my local electorate in representing both Newcastle DEA and also Slieve Croob DEA which I was recently elected onto last May with the new Council.

“I very much strongly feel in best representing my constituents therefore that my current commitment will be best served in delivering, working and ensuring that the new Newry, Mourne and Down Council structures and transfer of powes are put in place over the coming interim months ahead.

“Also with planning powers being soon transferred from the DOE to Council from April 2015 as well as my own deep commitment to tourism attractions such as Dundrum Castle, Castlewellan and Tollymore Forest Parks bringing transferred from DARD and Forest Service to new Council and the major restoration of the Market house which currently houses Castlewellan Library all of which equire my attention over the coming months ahead.”

He added: “Newcastle is also a very high priority for me as I firmly believe that in continuing to drive tourism and also bringing economic benefits to South Down does require a major tourism attraction such as a new build Leisure and Health Wellbeing Centre including tourism attractions to one of best seaside resorts.

I will certainly intend to put my name forward as a Alliance candidate for any future Assembly elections at Stormont and will continue to best serve my electorate ‎on both the current and new Council as I was elected to do.”

“Alliance has been growing stronger everyday in South Down and has two Councillors who will represent everyone continuing to lead change.”
