Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke has supported an end to age discrimination now campaign in Northern Ireland organised by Age NI which attended the 44th annual Alliance Party conference held at the La Mon Hotel on Saturday 21st March outside Belfast.
Speaking at the Conference Alliance, xa0Councillor Patrick Clarke said:xa0“I am fully supporting the End Age Discrimination Now campaign in Northern Ireland by Age NI as I firmly believe that irrespective of an older person’s agexa0 people should not be discriminated against and need to be protectedxa0 by proper legislation in Northern Ireland.
“The Northern Ireland Executive has promised to introduce legislation by March 2015 to end discrimination on the grounds of age in accessing things like healthcare, mortgages, and bank loans, membership of gyms and clubs, accommodation and transport.xa0 The law will call these things Goods, Facilities and Services (GFS).”
“Age NI is working to end age discrimination in Northern Ireland and I know that with the help of Alliance we can help make sure that the Northern Ireland Executive keeps this promise and introduces the law that will help older people participate more fully in society.”
