Moore and Mathison hear from local businesses at Ards Business Hub
Alliance representatives Cllr Vicky Moore and Nick Mathison MLA have highlighted the importance of supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs after attending Ards Business Hub’s Summer Social.
The event brings together tenants and other key stakeholders to meet informally and to hear directly from businesses about the issues and challenges they’re experiencing.
Also on site on the day was the Mini Digi Mobile Lab. The lab showcases digital technology and support services. It was a great opportunity for everyone at the event to learn more about the opportunities it can offer.
Cllr Vicky Moore said: “Small businesses and entrepreneurs make an enormous contribution to our local economy.
“I’ve always loved coming to the Summer Social, it’s really useful to spend time speaking directly with some of the businesses based at the Hub, to make those connections in an informal setting, but importantly, also to listen.
“The Ards Business Hub team work incredibly hard to bring their members together, helping them build networks and provide access to support and new opportunities.
“And the Mini Digi Mobile Lab was amazing! We got to try VR headsets and Google Glasses, helping get a sense of how they can be used to bring ideas to life and bring customers closer to products and services.”
Nick Mathison MLA said: “Ards Business Hub is home to a diverse range of businesses, and it was great to meet some of the people behind them and hear first-hand about their experiences.
“Local businesses create jobs, bring new ideas into our communities and make an important contribution to the wider economy.
“We need to ensure that government at every level understands the pressures they face and works collaboratively with businesses and organisations such as Ards Business Hub to help remove barriers to growth.
“Vicky and I work closely together across Strangford, and visits like this are particularly valuable.
