Alliance Councillor Welcomes Dundrum Playpark Funding

ALLIANCE Newcastle area Councillor Patrick Clarke has warmly welcomed capital grant funding approval being granted by Down Rural Area Partnership (DRAP) of £86,000 pounds for a proposed children’s playground including boundary fencing in Dundrum.

He described the approval as an early Christmas present for the young people of Dundrum.xa0 Down District Council will also make a contribution to the construction costs following successful acquisition of land from the Housing Executive.

Councillor Clarke said:xa0“I warmly welcome funding has now been successfully secured xa0towards the construction costs of a new and very much needed children’s playground.xa0xa0dn_screen

“This money had been previously secured but due to planning approval criteria being required for the proposed new playground, a fresh grant application had to be resubmitted to Down Rural Area Partnership (DRAP) by Down District Council which thankfully has now just been secured against very stiff competition.

“I would like to thank both Down District Council, County Down Rural Community Network and Down Rural Area Partnership (DRAP) who all worked expeditiously to ensure that the grant application was completed.

“Dundrum has been in need of a new children’s playground for decades, so the granting of capital funding will now allow Down District Council in the very near future to provide these new community facilities,”xa0added Cllr Patrick Clarke.
