Alliance Backs Plans For New Community Centre In Ballykinlar

Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke has praised the group of women who have come together in Ballykinlar and who are determined to ensure a former primary school is transformed into new community centre.

dn_screenCouncillor Clarke, who is a member of the Recreation committee at Down District Council, believes Ballykinlar village needs and rightly deserves a new community centre which would act as a catalyst for further regeneration and has backed plans for a new community centre in Ballykinlar.

He said: “I have been greatly impressed by the vision and determination of the group of ladies from Ballykinlar who have become involved in the campaign for securing a new and much needed community facilities in Ballykinlar village.

“Ballykinlar like many areas over the last decade has grown with increased residential housing and population which in turns shows the necessity to have proper community facilities whereby a wide range, of community, voluntary, health, educational, and recreational services plus others could be provided to cater for all ages from babies to senior citizens.

“By working together under the auspice of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) the group of women from Ballykinlar and neighbouring Army camp clearly have a vision and plan for the former Kindle Integrated Primary School which could be transformed into a proper community centre.

“I certainly would like to lend my support to the provision of a new community centre in Ballykinlar which will serve the needs of everyone and which would improve the social and economic fabric of the area,” xa0added Cllr Clarke.
