A Play Strategy For Children And Young People In Your Area

Newly Mourne and Down District Council is inviting all organisations with an interest to give their views on its draft Play Strategy.

dn_screenThe work is being undertaken by Playboard NI, who are a leading organisation for the development and promotion of children and young peoples’ play in Northern Ireland.

The purpose of this work is to provide a Strategic approach to any current and future development needs and to provide a framework for the prioritisation and development of play areas and to prioritise investment.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said: “I am delighted that Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is taking a strategic approach to the provision of Play within the district. The importance of Play is clearly identified by key agencies and the Council recognise the benefits and added value this brings to children and young people in our district.”

The Play Strategy for Newry Mourne and Down District Council is scheduled to be completed by December 2016.

To ensure the views of all relevant stakeholders are catered for xa0Newry Mourne and Down District Council will be holding a number of consultations over the coming months in order to receive a wide range of feedback.

The Council is undertaking a series of Pre-Strategy and Final Draft Strategy Consultations, to help shape the strategy and also give the public an opportunity to feed into the final draft, prior to publication.

The closing date for consultation will be on Wednesday 7 December 2016 at 12noon.
