Sinn Féin MLA Emma Rogan has welcomed the announcement that tree clearance works are due to take place in February as part of the Shimna Flood Alleviation Scheme.xa0xa0 xa0

The South Down MLA said:xa0“I welcome the announcement that tree clearance works are due to take place in February as part of the £6.5million Shimna Flood Alleviation Scheme. xa0

“The flooding last August was nothing short of horrendous and caused devastation to the community in Newcastle  

“The clearance of these trees and the flood alleviation scheme will hopefully prevent even further misery to hundreds of householders.”
