South Down MLA Emma Rogan with NMD Mournes Councillor Willie Clarke.

“Given the levels of housing stress in the South Down area this development of social housing will be very much welcomed in the area.

“With the housing crisis only deepening, this will offer some hope to those on waiting lists but more still needs to be done to address housing inadequacies.”

Cllr Clarke commented: “Newcastle has one of the highest waiting lists in the Newry Mourne and Down District. I have campaigned for more social housing in this area for many years and welcome that this project is now progressing.'”
