Housing Executive Launches Energy Advice Service

‘One stop shop’ launched for NI Energy advice.

Over 700 people across Northern Ireland have availed of energy efficiency advice in the last three months through the Housing Executive’s new and refreshed NI Energy Advice Service.

Officially launched this week, the service provides free and impartial advice to all local householders.

Operating since the beginning of April this year, the service, previously provided by Bryson Energy, is the only ‘one stop shop’ for energy advice and information on available grants.

At the launch in the Titanic Centre are (L to R) Prof Peter Roberts, Chair Housing Executive, David Polley, Director DfC, Robert Clements, Manager Housing Executive, Siobhan McCauley, Director Housing Executive, John French, CEO Consumer Council, l, Dr Ian Humphreys, CEO of Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, and Gemma Cowles, Energy Advice Team, Housing Executive.

To avail of this service, call 0800 111 4455 or contact us through our ‘Get in Touch’ eform on our website nihe.gov.uk or by email at:

[email protected]

The delivery of this service is an important element in achieving the Department for Communities (DfC) and the Housing Executive’s key objective of tackling fuel poverty.

As the Home Energy Conservation Authority for Northern Ireland, we promote energy efficiency awareness and believe households should get the right energy advice that suits their specific circumstances.

We are directly signposting any relevant queries to the available energy efficient grants providers, such as the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP), DfC Boiler Replacement Scheme, plus a targeted Affordable Warmth Scheme. These grants offer vital help to our vulnerable householders, the aged, and those on low income.

Siobhan McCauley, the Housing Executive’s Director of Regional Services, explains why the organisation now funds and operates the Service: “As the Home Energy Conservation Authority for Northern Ireland we have a statutory duty to promote energy efficiency and advice to all NI householders.

“With the refreshed NI Energy Advice Service we want to ensure all householders are able to have easy accessible free impartial advice that will help people save money on their energy bills and reduce their carbon footprint.”

The Housing Executive provides a wide range of housing support to both public and private sector householders in Northern Ireland and from April 2020 will see the added value of bringing the delivery of its energy advice service in-house. This service is managed and operated by the Housing Executive and funded by Department for Communities (DfC).
