Lions Hero Shield Project Delivers On Face Shields

The Lions Hero Shield Project has funded the production of face shields for front line workers in the health service and care homes and is offering to supply shields free including delivery.

John Dennis, Downpatrick Lions President, said: “In just four weeks Lions Clubs throughout Ireland have donated over £80,000 to their ‘Lions Hero Shield Project’ which was set up to manufacture and supply free visors to front-line workers who are most at risk from Covid-19.

The Lions International emblem: Lions across Ireland have raised £80,000 to make
face visors for front line staff in the coronavirus epidemic.

“Downpatrick Lions Club made a contribution to the fund on behalf of the people of Down District. We would now like to reach out to front-line workers in hospitals, nursing homes, GP surgeries, paramedics, dentists, etc in our area who are in need of visors.

“If you do require them please email:

 [email protected] or [email protected]

“They will arrange distribution for you. The visors are free (as is delivery) – you just need to apply.

“We know the need is there and sadly will be for some time to come so we would urge our front-line heroes to get in touch so that we can help to keep them safe.”
