Newry and Armagh Alliance representative Jackie Coade has called on the public to follow the Public Health Agency’s advice to remember social distancing and stay at home as it can save lives.

She said: “This includes avoiding contact with someone who is displaying symptoms of coronavirus – these symptoms include high temperature and/or new and continuous cough, avoid non-essential use of public transport, work from home, avoid large gatherings, avoid gatherings with friends and family – keep in touch using remote technology such as phone, internet, and social media. Use telephone or online services to contact your GP or other essential services.”

The Alliance representative who is a teacher has stated that social distancing can save lives. Although it seems that the majority of cases may be mild. the Public Health Agency has indicated that the real danger is with the public who can carry the virus to those who are vulnerable.

Coade added: “I am begging you to consider those who are vulnerable. Not all of them are older people. My daughter is only 24 and has cystic fibrosis. She needs you and everyone else to stay at home. We all have people we love. Think about that person and do the right thing to keep them safe.”
