Killyleagh Tea Dance Was The Icing On The Cake

The Killyleagh Community Association (KCA) is making a big effort to to liven up the community spirit in its town.

On Sunday 3 November Killyleagh Community Association held their first Old Time Tea Dance for the Killyleagh folk of all ages in Killyleagh Sailing Club.

The youngest present was five months old, and the oldest had been around quite a few years longer, with Queen’s telegrams maybe not many years off!

KCA member Ken Tait, said: “Approximately almost 70 people enjoyed the craic, refreshments and the entertainment, which had been laid on by KCA, as part of their campaign to re-awaken a community spirit, which we feel has been in slow decline in the town in recent years. The fantastic entertainment, was byxa0The Swing Gals, axa0five-piece song and dance group, and the catering was provided by Mark Spence ofxa0Dial a Chef.

“Each table was adorned by a selection of cake stands kindly loaned by St John The Evangelist Church, which added to the atmosphere of the period tea dance perfectly/

“Killyleagh Community Association in it’s present form has been operational for three years now, organising a very successful Summer Festival each August, Halloween and Christmas street festivals, and are involved in organising improvements around the town and the surrounding area in association with statutory bodies and other local groups, all with a view to making Killyleagh even more attractive to residents and visitors alike.

“Our next planned event will be the Christmas lights switch on, on Saturday 7 December – more details to be announced very soon on our Facebook page and elsewhere around the town.

“Do come and join in the craic!”
