Congratulations to the twelve athletes from Shimna Stars Special Olympics club who competed in the annual Special Olympics Ulster skills finals which took place in Antrim Forum recently.

“All twelve athletes excelled in their respective grades coming away with 4 Gold, 4 Silver, 2 Bronze and 2 Placed. This was a brilliant achievement by the athletes, some who were competing for the first time and speaks volumes for the amount of work undertaken by the athletes and their coaches over recent weeks,” said Laurence McAlinden, Shimna Stars spokesperson.

“Many thanks to Special Olympics Ulster who co-ordinated the event and also to the volunteers from Shimna Stars who accompanied the athletes to the event Anne, Kay, Elaine, Lucy, Ashleigh and Danny. Thanks also to the parents and relatives who attended on the day for your continued support.

Silver: Aódhan McConnell, Michelle Coyne, James Thorne, Rory McMullan.

Bronze: Michelle Crawford, Tori Campbell
