Giants Fall To Clan On Sunday In Glasgow

The Stena Line Belfast Giants fell to the Glasgow Clan on Sunday in Scotland. Four middle period goals did the damage as the Giants lost out to the Clan after wins on Thursday, in the Challenge Cup Semi-Final, and again on Saturday, in the Elite league.
The win leaves the Giants three points behind the Cardiff Devils at the top of the standings, ahead of the league leaders’ visit to Belfast on Friday and Saturday on the biggest weekend of the season so far.

Tyler Beskorowany started in the Giants net with the Belfast side missing Guillaume Gelinas, Darcy Murphy and Andrew Dickson.

Honours Even In Opening Period.
Both sides killed penalties in the opening 20 minutes of action though the game remained deadlocked going into the middle period.
Clan Stun Giants In Middle Period.
Glasgow stunned the Giants with four goals during the middle period, including three inside 5:03. Kevin Raine dropped the gloves with Glasgow’s Zach Fitzgerald at 24:11.
Vaclav Stupka opened the scoring at 23:37, assisted by Matt Beca, before Rasmus Bjerrum doubled Glasgow’s lead at 26:10, assisted by Tyson Wilson.
Gerard Hanson extended the hosts lead at 28:50, assisted by Zach Sullivan and Rasmus Bjerrum before Scott Pitt rounded off the middle period scoring at 38:59.
Giants Unable To Break Down Clan.
With the Giants pressurising for the majority of the final period – the Clan took full advantage of a final period powerplay with Brendan Connolly extending the hosts lead to five at 54:35.
Tyler Beskorowany made way for Stephen Murphy for the final 5:25 in this Elite League clash.
