Boyle Welcomes DfI’s Kerb Improvement Proposals

Ards and North Down Councillor Joe Boyle has welcomed the Department for Infrastructure’s decision to address the problem in Portaferry of disabled and other people facing problems with high kerbs.

Cllr Boyle said: “Repairs are required where flooding is currently occurring and also to create additional dropped kerb at locations so thatxa0 regardless of where you travel to in Portaferry that for convenience and health and safety reasons these improvements will be in place.

“I’m keen to create an environment whereby wherever you are going to in Portaferry or throughout the Ards Peninsula villages, should that be as a resident or visitor, that this provision is in place so that everyone can have access to their intended destination.

“It is important that our roads and pavements are fully accessible with the least detrimental impact and inconvenience possible that would either interrupt or prevent that journey from taking place.”

This improvement will be of importance to wheelchair users, and to mothers with prams.
