Boyle Condemns Cloughey Shop Burglary

Ards and North Down Councillor Joe Boyle has condemned those who forced an entry at Watson’s Hardware business in Cloughey during the early hours of around 01.15 am on Sunday 6 January 2019.

Councillor Boyle said: “It is understood that two males entered Watsons hardware store and made off with high value items from the shop. It is further believed that the two males were picked up in a car following this.

“This sort of activity is absolutely unacceptable and will be condemned by all right thinking people. Everyone knows that the Watson family are not only an extremely hard-working family but equally very well respected.

“Many family-operated businesses are currently experiencing very challenging and difficult times in trying to sustain their businesses and certainly do not need such unwelcome interruptions to their livelihoods.”

Councillor Boyle added: “Any information available should be passed either to the PSNI or to someone who can forward on such information – the Ards Peninsula or any area within Ards and North Down Borough can well do without this and those involved need to be apprehended and presented before the courts.”
