Walking Group: Spelga Horseshoe
Our walking group were in the Mournes on Saturday (24th November) when we took on the Spelga Horseshoe, first anticlockwise on the outside and then back round on the inside. It was a morning of low clouds and mists which obscured or reduced some of the views, particularly those looking towards Newcastle so it wasn’t all bad. We had better views looking south over Spelga Dam, now refilled to overflowing after the summer’s drought, the mountain beyond and to the sea. Followed by refreshments in Meelmore Lodge.
Our next outing, the last of 2018, will be a coastal walk from Killough to St John’s Point on Saturday 8th December leaving St John’s at 9.00am.
Contact Kevin McGlynn on 078 3596 0804 or kevin.mcglynn62@gmail.com if you are interested in coming along.
Sat 8th Dec St John’s Point
Sat 5th Jan 2019 Ulster Way at Fofanny Dam
Sat 19th Jan Divis & Black Mountain
Sat 2nd Feb Hen to Pigeon (Sandbank Rd to Moyad Rd)
Saturday walks – meet at the club and be ready to leave at 9.00am.
