Downpatrick Three Convicted On Benefit Fraud

Three convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court of benefit fraud.

Two women and one man were convicted at Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court today for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Jacqueline Vaugh (34) of Marshallstown, Downpatrick, claimed Income Support totalling £4,070 while failing to declare employment. Miss Vaugh was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.

Emma Curran (28) of Struell Court, Downpatrick, claimed Income Support totalling £2,006 while failing to declare employment. Ms Curran was given a 12 month conditional discharge.

Paul Reilly (40) of Racecourse Road, Downpatrick, claimed Income Support and Carers Allowance totalling £2,698 while failing to declare employment. Mr Reilly was given a £500 fine and a two year conditional discharge.

They are also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
