*xa0 St Michaels 0-8 v Bright 2-13.
In a well contested encounter, Bright gradually got the better of St Michael’s to win comfortably in the end. Gareth George set the tone from midfield winning the opening throw up to set Seamas Tumelty on the attack.
Marc Burke rampaged from half back to take the opening score. It was point for point with Freddie O’Connor, Oran Tumelty and George all scoring.
Noel Burke, club chairman, and Freddie Connor, player, with Stephen (centre) from Stoneyways who sponsored the match ball.
Bright missed a host of chances as they dominated the game. Corey Ranaghan, Burke, Rian Tempany, O’Connor, Cormac McLaughlin and George were controlling the match with little reward. Tempany put Bright in control before half-time with a brilliant point to leave the score 0-6 to 0-5 to Bright.xa0 Bright started the second half as they left the first only more clinical.
Gareth George was rampant and scored a further goal and 3 points. Marc Burke continued to make forward runs from half back and was rewarded with 2 points. It was 12 minutes into the half before St Michael’s scored which was due to the hard work of defenders Barry Mageean, Noel Travers and Joe Farrand. Tempany and Ranaghan exchanged points with the opposition before sub Chris Tumelty punched the ball into the back of the net.
A great all round performance from a well drilled unit with Burke, O’Connor, George, Tempany, Oran Tumelty, McLaughlin and motm Ranaghan standing out.xa0
Final score: 2-13 to 0-8.
Scorers: Burke 0-3, O’Connor 0-1, O. Tumelty 0-1, George 1-5, Tempany 0-2, Ranaghan 0-1, C. Tumelty 1-0.
