Free Health Checks Come to Killyleagh
Residents of Killyleagh and the surrounding areas will be able to take advantage of free health checks on Friday 4 May in the Killyleagh Football Grounds at 4 Comber Road.
The event, which is being sponsored by the Rowallane District Electoral Area Forum (DEA) in partnership with the County Down Rural Community Network, will see the Action Cancer and Farm Families buses provide basic health checks for both men and women.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Roisin Mulgrew said: “I am pleased that people from Killyleagh and the surrounding areas will be able to take advantage of this free service. Taking care of our health, knowing whether we are suffering from high cholesterol, high blood pressure or are at risk of diabetes, often gets lost as we go about our busy lives. We all know that diet and exercise are essential, but it is just as important to understand our overall health risks.
“I know that those from the farming community, particularly men, find it difficult to make the time to go to the doctor and the Farm Families bus at this event provides a good opportunity to get a quick health check.
“In addition, the Action Cancer Bus will also be there to provide breast screening. The professionals in attendance at the event will be able give advice, guidance and support to help you lead a longer and healthier life.”
“I would encourage everyone in the area to make their appointments as soon as possible, as there are limited places. Come along on 4 May to check that you and your family are on the right track with your health.”
