Armstrong Calls For Update On Cancer Strategy

Alliance Calls For Cancer Strategy For NI Now.

Alliance MLA’s joined the call for a #CancerStrategyNow as part of the All Party Group on Cancer.
Strangford MLA Kellie Armstrong said the cancer strategy for NI was 10 years out of date.

Strangford MLA Kellie Armstrong who has previously spoken about the need for shorter waiting times to access Cancer consultants, joined the call for a #CancerStrategyNow.

Armstrong said: ‘The current strategy was written over 10 years ago. It is out of date. We a new Strategy that will invest in prevention, consider access to specialist and life lengthening drugs and include a cancer services framework.
‘Alongside my colleague Paula Bradshaw MLA, Alliance’s Health Spokesperson, we met a range of patients, organisations, pharmacy and health professionals who all agree a Cancer Strategy is long overdue.
“If we had a Health Minister in place then this and many other outstanding issues could be resolved.
“It’s time for both DUP and Sinn Fein to consider the impact their impasse is having on people, especially people waiting on life saving cancer treatments”.
