Congratulations to the South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Team who have been awarded BACPR/NACR certification status for a period of three years!
The national certification programme for Cardiovascular Rehabilitation is an alliance between the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) and the National Audit for Cardiac Rehabilitation (NACR).
It has been designed to demonstrate that an evidence-based and consistently high quality cardiac rehabilitation and prevention programme is delivered in centres across the United Kingdom. This is achieved through meeting a set of quality standards set out by the BACPR.
This is a prestigious award and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Team at the Ulster Hospital have worked hard consistently to deliver and improve the quality service to their patients in order to meet these standards.
Cardiovascular disease is a long term condition. Saving someone’s life following a heart condition is vital, but giving them a fulfilling life that is worth living is equally important.
The aims of cardiac rehabilitation and prevention are to provide the patient and family with the skills and knowledge to self-manage, facilitate recovery both physically and psychologically and educate to reduce the risk of further cardiovascular events, as well as achieving an absolute risk reduction in cardiovascular mortality.
