Police Check Out Saintfield Cheque Fraud

Detectives from Downpatrick have been conducting a complex and challenging investigation into a number of recent cheque frauds.

Detective Sergeant James Johnston said: “A report was made to police in August, from a company based in the Saintfield area, that company cheques were being used without their knowledge or approval.

“An investigation was immediately started, with our enquiries leading us to eight searches being carried out and the arrest of three men in north and east Belfast on Friday 8th September.

“The men, two aged 24 and one aged 25, were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including theft, fraud and handling stolen goods. All three men have since been released on police bail as our enquiries into the matter continue.”
