Community Service For £15,300 Benefit Fraud

A woman was convicted at Downpatrick Crown Court today for claiming £15,390 benefits she was not entitled to.

Elizabeth McKeownxa0(29) of Willow Park, Ballynahinch claimed Income Support totalling £15,390 while failing to declare capital. She was given 100 hours community service and two years probation.

The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
