Police Appeal After Attack On Car Near Clough

Police are appealing for information following the report of criminal damage that was caused to a vehicle within the vicinity of the Newcastle Road in the Clough area of Downpatrick.

Inspector Darren Hardy said : “It was reported that at approximately 1.35am on Friday 30xa0June, bottles and bricks were thrown at a black Audi A6 located on the Newcastle Road in the Clough area of Downpatrick causing damage to the windscreen and to the paintwork on the vehicle. The driver and passenger inside the vehicle were not injured as a result of the incident, but were left badly shaken.

“We are appealing to anyone that may have witnessed this incident to contact Downpatrick Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 87 of the 30/06/17.

“Or, alternatively if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
