FSB Frustrated By Talks Failure

NORTHERN Ireland’s largest business organisation, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), has voiced dismay over the failure of politicians to reach agreement at Stormont.

Wilfred Mitchell OBE, FSB NI Policy Chair said:“The FSB is greatly frustrated that there has been no agreement between the political parties; Northern Ireland deserves a government that works and represents their interests.

“Our local members tell us their greatest concerns are around political and economic uncertainty. There is already a great deal of political uncertainty as the UK re-negotiates its relationship with Europe, so it is vital that Northern Ireland has a strong and unified voice representing our interests; the failure of these talks makes that an unlikely prospect.

Mr Mitchell added:xa0 “Today’s news creates further uncertainty around outstanding issues, including the overdue budget, and how the significant investment secured through the recent DUP/Conservative deal can be capitalised upon to help rebalance our economy. xa0The FSB is urging the parties to redouble their efforts to reach an agreement, even as they pass the deadline; failure cannot be an option.”
