He said: “Just this week Mourne’s Councillor Laura Devlin and I visited Burrenbridge and spoke to residents regarding their play park.

“The equipment is top class however there are major issues with the padded surface.xa0 Local children are coming in from play have been covered in black marks.xa0 This is causing major issues with not only the children’s shoes and clothes but also the knock on effect this is having on carpet and furniture within their homes.

‘’ I have made urgent representations to Council asking for an inspection of the play park and its surface with a view to rectifying the matter urgently.”

Cllr Laura Devlin added: “This play park is fantastic and is well used, which is great to see. However, the black colouring issue needs to be dealt with.xa0 Keeping children clean, tidy and safe is hard enough without this extra worry.

“I want local parents to be able to let their children enjoy their summer months in the play park free from this stress.”
