Strangford DUP candidate in the Westminster election Jim Shannon xa0has called for the council to urgently repair the fence at the entrance to Ballywalter Graveyard.
He said: “The fence at the graveyard at Ballywalter has fallen down and it is still lying on the side despite the fact that it fell down some time ago. Age has taken its toll and the wood has deteriorated and there is a need for an urgent repair to be done.
“The field to the rear of the fence and its site-lines are open to the world and Ards and North Down Borough Council has a duty to respond and the repair work needs to be done urgently.
“I would call upon the council to do the work immediately, as not only does the fence need to be put up to secure the fields and pasture, but there is a need to have the work done for cosmetic appearance as well.”
