Residents from Newcastle attended the launch of the new Newcastle Community Hub at the SERC Campus, Newcastle on Saturday 25 March 2017.
Arising out of a Community Safety Action Plan, the Newry Mourne and Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership, along with key agencies, including County Down Rural Community Network identified the need for a central hub where residents can receive a wide range of advice and support in one place on a regular basis.
The Hub will open its doors to the public on Wednesday 5 April and will operate as a drop in centre. Residents will be able to get help and advice on a wide range of issues including Benefits Tax Credits, welfare reform, Policing issues, Housing Issues and Employment opportunities.
Chairperson of the PCSP, Councillor Brian Quinn,said: “This is an excellent opportunity for the people of Newcastle to avail of these services under the one roof. Providing this advice are APEX Housing Association, Northern Ireland Housing Executive, Citizens Advice Bureau, PSNI, SERC and the Department for Communities Employment Service.”
These services will be available on the following times and days:
Every Wednesday:
* NIHE from 10am to 11am
* Citizens Advice Bureau from 9.30am to 12.30pm
On the first Wednesday of every month these services will be accompanied by:
* APEX Housing Association from 11am to 12noon
* PSNI from 10am to 12noon
* Newcastle DfC Employment Service from 10am to 12noon.
