Congratulations to Brogan O’Hare and Amy McClelland who both featured on the Down U-14 squad which played Armagh on Saturday. Due to All Ireland Scór na nÓg final preparations there will no youth club this week.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Greene adn Rooney families on the recent loss of Anne. Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas sioraí dí.
Mixed fortunes for our Scór Sinsir competitors on Sunday evening in Hilltown. Declan Grant represented the club well in Solo singing with his version of Phil Coulter’s classic ” The Old Man “. It was Declan’s misfortune to be in the most competitive section of the evening’s contest. The three performers through to the South Down Final in Mayobridge on Sunday 19th February were the best from Clonduff Football and Hurling and Attical.
The Ballad group of Donna Feeney, Sean and Declan Grant and Tony Bannon fared better in their section but are under no illusion after hearing the polished, and harmonic vocals of the evening’s winning group again from Clonduff. We thank our competitors for representing our Club so well and are grateful to the great number who came across to support them. Our thanks to all in Hilltown, the South Down Scór Chairman Kieran McGreevy, Fear an ti Jimmy Cousins , Runai Anita Brannigan who wish Niamh , the Mayobridge ballad Group and the Ballyholland Quiz team all success in the All-Ireland Final next Saturday in the Waterfront.
Well one of the biggest days in in our Club’s proud history in Scór is nearly upon us. The tickets have been issued, the bus filled, transport arrangements finalised. On Saturday we set forth to see Niamh our first County and Ulster Champion Solo singer in Scór na nÓg finish her year with her appearance in the All-Ireland final in the Waterfront Belfast.
We are all so proud of what Niamh has achieved this year. It would be the icing on the cake for her to add the All-Ireland title to her roll of honour. She carries the best wishes from all our Scór family past and present from all within our Club and beyond. The rafters of the Waterfront will be shaking on Saturday as we get behind all our County’s talent on show from the quiz team of Baile Chólmáin, the ballad group from Droichead Mhaigh Eo who have provided a great source of companionship and camaraderie and to our very own Niamh.
