Clarke Calls For Irish Passport Office In North

eirepasMournes Sinn Féin Councillor Willie Clarke has supported calls for the establishment of an Irish Passport office in the North of Ireland.

Cllr Clarke was speaking after it was revealed that record-breaking 740,000 Irish Passports were issued in 2016. Around 65,000 of the Irish passports were issued to people in the north of Ireland.

u2028u2028Cllr Clarke said:xa0″There shoud be an Irish passport office in the North. This should be a priority in 2017, to help cope with the growing demand,the delivery of an Irish Passport office is long overdue and the demand has grown since the EU referendum.

“I will be contacting the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin to reiterate Sinn Féin’s support for the establishment of a passport office in the North.”
