Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard has met with members of Derry Chamber to discuss his plans for infrastructure developments in the North West.
The Minister discussed progress of the dualling schemes between A6 Randalstown and Castledawson, A6 Derry and Dungiven and the A5 Western Transport Corridor.
Minister Chris Hazzard said: “One of my key priorities over the next five years is to redress the north’s infrastructure deficit, particularly west of the Bann.
“The A6 Randalstown to Castledawson scheme is now well advanced with the appointed contractor working on final design details and I am actively working to expedite progress on deliver of the Derry to Dungiven dualling scheme during the current mandate.
“Work on the A5 Western Transport Corridor could begin late next year subject to the successful completion of all the statutory procedures and outcome of the Inspector’s Report.
“I am confident that my plans to improve infrastructure in the North West will go a long way to assist The Chamber in its vital work helping its members optimise opportunities to grow and enhance their position in the global market place through all the services they offer.”

The A5 Western Transport Corridor scheme aims to provide 85 kilometres (55 miles) of dual carriageway from south of Derry at New Buildings to south of Aughnacloy.
The A6 is an important element of the North Western Key Transport Corridor connecting Belfast and Derry via Toome, Maghera and Dungiven.
