Culann’s Feast Lúnasa Food and Craft Festival Launched

On Sunday 14 August, Newry Mourne and Down District Council’s Taste Junction Initiative has joined with the Tí Chulainn Centre to host the Culann’s Feast Fun Day as part of the Ring of Gullion Lúnasa Festival.

The Tí Chulainn Centre in Mullaghbawn will come to life with various characters to tell the story of the boy ‘CúChulainn’, who was then called Setanta, visit the house of Culann at the feast for King Connor. Legend states that his fatal battle with Culann’s dog led to the young boy taking up the role of guard dog, known as the hound of Culann or CúChulainn.

Come along to see Culann, Ireland’s most famous blacksmith, CúChulainn, Ireland’s most famous warrior and King Connor of Ulster, as they welcome visitors to the heart of South Armagh.

The Feast will include a wide selection of local food and drink on offer along with great entertainment for all of the family including live music, bouncy castles, face painting and iron-age games.

“Culann’s Feast provides the perfect opportunity to showcase a wide range of local arts, crafts and folklore while sampling an array of local foods from our wonderful range of local producers. This is also an ideal family day out with plenty of fun activities for all to enjoy.”
